There is a $5.00 surcharge on all new tires with an inner diameter of 24.5 inches or less. Tires used on equipment that is not mechanically propelled are exempt from the surcharge. The surcharge is collected from consumers at the point of sale and is submitted by retailers to a Recycling Fund account dedicated to the management of used tires.
