The SSTC Program was first initiated in 1995 as an industry driven
program with voluntary participation by the tire retailers
of Saskatchewan. In 1998 Scrap Tire Management Regulations,
1998 were implemented under Chapter E-10.2 Reg. 9 of the Environmental
Management and Protection Act.
The SSTC is a non-profit, non-governmental program that operates
the province's only approved tire recycling stewardship program.
A multi-stakeholder Board composed of 10 individuals oversees
the stewardship of scrap tire management in the Province of Saskatchewan.
