Mission

The mission of CATRA is to – “enhance the effectiveness of scrap tire diversion and recycling across Canada through sharing of information, expertise, and resources.”

The vision of CATRA is to be the reference autority for the scrap tire management in Canada


Fonctionnement

The association, not being an accredited or legal body, does not have any sources of revenue, and makes no disbursements.  Costs associated with the CATRA-sponsored functions are paid by the Chair’s organization.  Occasionally all provincial programs share in conference and other costs through a registration fee. On occasion, fees for research, communication, internet are shared among members of CATRA.

Currently one conference is held annually, normally in the Chair’s region.

Program operators continue to hold regional monthly telephone conferences and one annual national telephone conference.

CATRA Activities, past and current:

  • Exchange of information among members
  • Manage CATRA website (www.catraonline.ca)
  • Exchange information regarding markets
  • Research common industry issues/trends
  • Carry out projects – e.g. OTR, West Nile Virus, Processor directory
  • Develop brochures for CATRA organization
  • Promote joint ventures among provincial programs
  • Make presentations, or represented at industry related conferences – e.g. Rubber Association of Canada, International association, Belgium
  • Networking opportunities among membership
